![]() ![]() The brainchild of Mike Lim, formerly of Katy’s Tobiuo Sushi & Bar (also worth a stop!), Kanau Sushi’s truffle hon maguro (bluefin tuna), duck fat wagyu, and squid ink-battered fried octopus are just a few testaments to the restaurant’s exceptionality.Ī post shared by KUU Restaurant Kuu MemorialĪt Kuu, Chef Adison Lee, who trained under master chef Nobu Matsuhisa (yes, that Nobu), artfully blends Japanese and modern cooking techniques to reimagine Japanese fine dining for a contemporary crowd. This airy, aesthetically pleasing Midtown restaurant offers sushi classics with a touch of flair, at times so subtle you just have to taste it to appreciate the culinary nuances. Kanau Sushi Midtownįor traditional and innovative maki, top-tier nigiri and sashimi, and Korean or French-infused dishes, look no further than Kanau Sushi. Owned and operated by Akira Asano and Hajime Kubokawa, known as Chef Kubo, this is your Houston go-to for exploring traditional and Americanized Japanese fare. ![]() Crowd favorites at Izakaya Wa include the gyu kushiyaki (beef tenderloin) skewers and the beef udon. It’s basically the Japanese version of tapas. I would go back for sure, but if you're willing to pay more you can probably have much better sushi elsewhere.Izakaya Wa perfectly encapsulates izakaya dining, a casual, low-key style of Japanese dining known for light bites, like grilled or fried skewers, and drinks such as Kirin Ichiban, a type of Japanese light beer. Reasonable prices, quality was consistent with said prices, impressive quantity. but since it's not an option, I believe 4 is more suitable than 3. During this Covid-19 pendemic, the quality and freshness of the food has gone down in a lot of restaurants. Might be good or bad depending on the person. Ratio of rice and other ingredients to proteins was pretty high. Customer service was good, place looked clean, quality packaging. Low prices can also explain the mid-range quality. The prices were really good relatively to the amount of food you get. I was really surprised by the size of each pieces, I could barely manage to eat them in one bite. ![]() The quality of the food wasn't the best I had, relatively to other sushi places. The staff come by to pick up your plates but no one asks how you're enjoying the food or if you need anything, so we had to keep flagging someone to ask for missing items.ĭespite the little nuances, I'll definitely be back. Lastly, they kept forgetting items we'd ordered despite the items being on a list. Luckily it's easy to figure out, but an offer of how to order would improve the customer experience. ![]() Then we were handed a tablet (this is the menu) without any explanation of how to use it. Juice and tea weren't offered, but others had some on their tables. We were asked what we wanted to drink, and we had to ask for what was available then we were only offered pop. They've only got wine and beer, no mention of non alcoholic beverages. One thing that would improve the experience would be having the regular drinks on the menu. The food is incredibly fresh and delicious. We were greeted with smiles and sat immediately. 10 months ago This is a cozy place with friendly staff. Pricing is reasonable, for the both of us all-you-can-eat, 1 coke and tip it was $92ĤKittana R. Washrooms are maintained clean(I hate places where the washroom stinks). The establishment itself is presentable, clean and has a very warm welcoming atmosphere. The owner has a great memory and always greets kindly when he see's a familiar face. They do a really good job checking in on tables, removing emptied plates, refilling water and presenting orders. The staff here is super friendly, polite and well mannered. My hubby enjoyed the grilled salmon and katsu chicken as well. I highly recommend their cheese wontons, beef short ribs, shrimp tempura, and of course the sashimi + sushi. The food here is amazing and the beef short ribs are to die for! Everything is fresh, tasty, flavourful, with good presentation. We always get the all you can eat menu and have not been disappointed. 4 months ago We have been here twice and LOVE this place.
